A Series of Unfortunate Events

Posted Date: 02/27/25 (04:45 PM)

Good Afternoon,
Today there was a scheduled drill for Hold and Secure portions of our Standard Response Protocols. We did not go into a full lock down for this drill. However this drill followed on the heels of a perceived danger outside.  A teenager was pacing the sidewalk on his phone during the brief interval between Secondary bus drop off and our drill.  We had multiple adults who had eyes on this individual who appeared to be deep in conversation and had his hood pulled up while across the street during recess.  Several students noticed him as well.
Fast forward to the drill and kids were thinking we were in lockdown due to this perceived danger outside.  The rumor mill got ahead of us and pretty soon the story was that he was talking to kids and he tried to grab a kid.  None of that was true, students were never in danger and the drill had been on the calendar since October.
I am grateful for students and adults who are aware of their surroundings.  Your student's safety is our number one priority!
Please reach out if you have questions.   Please have your students reach out if they have anxiety tomorrow!
